This truck was rescued from the desert with a blown motor and no rust.
Originally it was intended to be a low key family get away rig.
The body is very straight for its age and the "patina" look was intentional and has been preserved.
It's been a project rig for several years and has had a military 6.
2L J-code Detroit diesel installed, retaining the dual alternators, but having been converted to 12v operation.
The engine has approx 55,000 miles on it, the chassis shows 28,600 on the odometer and that would mean 126,800 having only a 5 digit odo.
The military motor was given a set of ARP head studs, a Fluidampener harmonic balancer and a Gail Banks "Sidewinder" turbo system.
The injection pump has had the fuel turned up per Banks instructions.
The exhaust has a 3" downpipe running back to the transfer case where it splits into the factory 2 1/4" dual exhaust w/a muffler delete done as well.
The TH700R4 was serviced at the time of the motor install and the original 246 transfer case was reused.
The suspension was completely removed from the chassis and the leaf springs were replaced with new heavy duty springs with all new poly bushings throughout.
New shocks were fitted to the slightly lifted chassis to control the additional weight that the project was expected to carry.
New brakes were fitted all around.
The red cloth interior was in presentable condition and has been mostly left alone.
The window motors all function, but as is w/all GM projects, the doors need accessed and the window mechanisms need lubed up and loosened up to work correctly.
The headliner is complete, but sagging and needing attention.
The front door hinges were re-pinned and the AC box deleted from the engine compartment.
The heater system is fully functional.
The glowplug controller had failed and was replaced with a push-button switch for easy starting control in all weather/circumstances.
A combination boost pressure/pyrometer was added to monitor the motor performance.
The tires and wheels are off a 2500HD in great condition and having 85+% of mud terrain tread pattern.
There is a 2" reciever hitch for the rear that goes with the rig.
The military grill Guard can go with it or can be removed.
The need for this project waned, and it has mostly been sitting for the last 8 years or so.
It gets used occasionally as a camping rig and started and warmed up and moved around on a regular basis.
It could likely be driven home to most any destination within a few hundred miles.
Open to reasonably placed offers, esp after some conversation.
Potentially open to some trades, feel free to offer what you have and your percieved value of it.
